After a mere 5-month delay between recording and publishing, today we escape the cold and go back to June, and go LARPing with Muninn Myst!

LARP, or Live Action Role Play, is where people get together in costume to act out scenarios. Amtgard is an organization that coordinates medieval and fantasy LARPing around the world, and Muninn Myst is the chapter nearest me in northern Virginia.

Muninn Myst was very open and welcoming, and allowed me and my daughter to join them for their activities. Rose created her own in-world character and designed her own costume, and really got into the fun of it all. Unfortunately I was under a book crunch at the time, so while I wasn’t recording the clips you see here, I was writing.

Today’s episode is a recorded beta reader debrief with Julianne Roan. I had several such conversations before publishing Forerunner, but you get to watch this one.

Beta reading is where an author lets several readers read a book ahead of its publication, so feedback can be gaged and wrinkles can be ironed out. You’ll get to hear what Julianne thought was less than ideal with the manuscript, and we talk about what to do about some of the issues.

*SPOILER ALERT* – this conversation will reveal some spoilers about book 1, and possibly, though mostly less specifically, about the series moving forward. However, for any part of the Nightshade Unicorn saga not yet published, I reserve the right to change it at will. If you wish to avoid spoilers, then just listen to the announcements section, and we’ll see you next week.
